Verse 1 No one does a crime Without a reason from their life They can do the time But it’s all for nothing if You don’t look behind Their choices made to not resist You gotta help solve, ‘Why?’ Rather than punish and restrict - The temporary fix Chorus There’s gotta be a better way than this Gotta find a better way to fix Gotta stop pushing up the risk Gotta get to the root of it Verse 2 Tell me, what’s the use Of sitting still and killing time? Emotional abuse And degradation of the mind Already beat - What do broken people do? They’re gonna be released - Start walking in their former shoes With nothing left to lose Chorus Bridge The ancient way Of locking up the ones you hate Inflicting pain It’s vengeance by another name So many crimes Are the legacy of circumstance So start fixing minds Begin to heal from damaged pasts Chorus

Heartstrings 04:50
Verse 1 I love the way you move and groove Tappin’ the rhythm with your shoes Baby, you got all the moves You got me too I’m taking in the view of you My eyes are stuck on you like glue As you’re dancing to the tune I wrote for you Pre-Chorus As the music changes tone It’s just you and me alone We’re connected, in the zone Our hearts synchronised And they’re drumming out the beat Chorus My heartstrings – they are playing notes and chords With a melody that’s saying, ‘I love you’ My heart sings, ‘Oh, my baby, I am yours’ Keep on dancing just the way you do (‘Cause you’re tugging my heartstrings too) Verse 2 I dedicate this song to you I wrote it yesterday, it’s new Just to put you in the mood To show your moves Shake your body free and loose Show the people what you do As I keep the harmonies and rhythm smooth Chorus Bridge Making music while you dance along Got the feeling that we both belong The energy of our love in a song Bound together with these chords of love We’re wrapped up tightly; we are one We let the flowing tempo overcome ‘Cause you’re tugging my heartstrings too You’re tugging my heartstrings You’re tugging my heartstrings too You’re tugging my heartstrings Chorus
3.
Verse 1 On the road, driving into the unknown No restrictions - I’ll go where I will go Leaving home, rush hour traffic moving slow Heading outbound, I’m going against the flow Pre-Chorus 1 Passing the suburbs and the way begins to clear I’m on the highway with the shadows to my rear I’m on my way to get away from here Chorus 1 My destination lies beyond horizons known Where the sunrise glows I’m riding on the open road, driven by hope To the unknown I have to go Beyond horizons known Verse 2 In the air, flying into the unknown Some preconceptions – my anticipation grows New land below – somewhere I’ve yet to get to know Secret places and hopefully a home Pre-Chorus 2 The plane’s descending with some turbulence of air Is this the beginning or the end of my despair? Do I still care? Had to get away from there Chorus 2 My destination lies beyond horizons known Where the sunrise glows I’m flying in the open air, driven by hope To the unknown I have to go Beyond horizons known
4.
Verse 1 You’re a wonder to me A misty-white galaxy with billions of stars To discover inside your heart You’re a mystery to me A constellation of feelings tugging my heart Ever closer into your arms You are my energy You’re the light – the light of a supernova, baby Your smile and your eyes are all that I need Chorus Under night skies I see the starlight in your eyes Shooting stars fly But all I see is your delight As you gaze up into the night The Milky Way is glowing bright But I can only gaze at you And marvel at the sight Verse 2 You’re amazing to me A sea of tranquillity Your face lights the night with its beauty And everything’s right You’re perfection to me A sphere of blue chemistry that’s teeming with life You’re the only one of a kind You are my gravity And your pull is stronger than a singularity I’m caught in your grip, don’t wanna be freed Bridge You’re a wonder to me A comet in the sky for the whole world to see You’re a wonder to me My universe, my life, my infinity You’re a wonder You’re a wonder You’re a wonder You’re a wonder Chorus
5.
Verse 1 My whole world is made of brick and of concrete The wall is where it all ends It is like there’s nothing beyond the limits Just memories in my head What I no longer see can only exist As fantasies in the mist Recollections of a life I once lived Of places, faces I miss Chorus Living in a world with nowhere to go Inside of the bars All the things outside are now in the past Inside of the bars The only thing that’s real is what I know here Inside of the bars The other side is far from in my grasp Inside of the bars Verse 2 Television is my window to heaven Showing a world far away Imagination’s all I got to remember How things were back in the day... I’m losing touch with the world as it was My fading memories, lost But I’m concentrating on surviving because I’m promised one day I’ll cross from… Chorus Bridge There is nothing out there Only visions on a TV screen (my window to the unseen) I could day-dream I’m there But this cage is my reality Chorus
6.
Infamous 03:53
Chorus Infamous Didn’t wanna be, didn’t wanna get so infamous The wrong kind of fame Notorious Didn’t think I’d be, didn’t wanna be notorious This ain’t a game I wanna play (This ain’t a fame I wanna face) (This ain’t the way to know my name) Verse 1 I never thought that this would be how my life Would turn out before I got to forty I never knew when I was growing up That the path was being laid to infamy Look at me and tell me what you see Is it friendliness or criminality? Can I be remembered for my good deeds Or does this have to be my legacy? Chorus Verse 2 Can I have another chance to show you That I got something to offer the world? Something that can make a difference to you Something that’s as precious as a pearl Take a breath. Put my past behind you And close your eyes and listen to this song And just let my music overtake you And wash away the things that I did wrong Chorus Bridge I got to break away From all the past mistakes I got to clean the slate From all the darkest stains I got to play this game I got to take this fame I got to change my fate And try to separate from the past Chorus
7.
Verse 1 There is pain Every day you feel like it will never go away And you’re trapped deep underground In a cave You can only feel your way around the dirt and bones There’s no light and hardly a sound There’s a weight Crushing you so hard that you can barely even breathe You feel lost, will never be found No escape But just because you cannot see the way toward the light That don’t mean you won’t get out, no, no Chorus Don’t give up, no, no You can make it through this and one day you’ll have won Don’t give up, no, no Things don’t last forever, you can overcome Don’t give up, no, no Death is not the answer, you can win the fight Don’t give up, no, no, there’s hope Don’t ever give up Verse 2 You’ve lost hope There can’t ever be a way to make it over this You exist, but don’t feel alive You’re alone Nobody around could possibly know how you feel Every day you fight to survive You don’t know What the answer is, but do not tell yourself a lie One thing’s sure and certain in life That this won’t Last forever; things don’t ever stay the same for long You can cope, just keep on trying, yeah, yeah Chorus Bridge Stop! Take a breath and listen here Someday this darkness shall pass Stand up, now, tell yourself that you are strong The future has you in its grasp Chorus Outro Don’t give up, no, no Don’t give up, no, no Don’t give up, no, no Don’t give up, no, no Don’t give up

Solution 04:28

Find a solution (Oooh, gotta rehabilitate, yeah) (Don’t just lock people away) (It ain’t the solution) Verse 1 Broken lives are gonna lead to broken actions Broken actions lead the way to pain On all sides there are many strong reactions But we all are try’na stop the crime wave Just lockin’ up ain’t gonna make a lotta difference It only breaks a broken person even more The only answer’s rehabilitation If you treat the wounded, you can win this war Chorus Verse 2 People gotta try to see the bigger picture One day the prisoner is gonna walk out free Punishment can calm the anger for an instant But what is gonna happen when they get released? With no money and without an education Family gone and friends have run away Further on the fringes of the population After years inside they’ve learned the new tricks of the trade Chorus Bridge Gotta help not hate Keep them on the straight Rehabilitate Find a solution Gotta educate And the mediate Help them through their pain Find a solution Chorus

Every Day 04:03

Dawn 05:43
Verse 1 Rubbing the sleep from my eyes Saying goodbye to the night You’re laying asleep by my side And my heart is satisfied Is this just a dream where I find The impossible love of my life? I pinch myself just one more time To be sure that I’m alive Pre-Chorus Planting a kiss on your cheek So I know that you’re real I’m not dreaming I whisper, ‘Good morning’ So grateful that you’re here with me Can it be you’re the one that I’ll ask, ‘Marry me’? Sorry 07:31
Chorus I’m sorry I never should have done the things I’ve done I’m sorry I’ve given you a burden you don’t want I am sorry I wanna see you swiftly overcome Oh, I’m sorry I was wrong Verse 1 I’m sorry that I put you in the story you are living in And all the worry that has risen from my choices and my sins Unintended, but I know that doesn’t really mean a thing Can’t undo it, can’t repair or give this tale a different end Chorus Verse 2 No excuses, no forgiveness, but I hope you’ll move ahead You can beat this, change your sorrow into lasting joy instead In this story I’m the villain fallen deep into disgrace I treated you poorly, now I pray your sadness quickly fades away Chorus Interlude If only I could rewrite this book; delete all the bad You’d be the hero and I would never make you sad I would give and I’d never take I’d do nothing to get in your way, no If only I could go back Bridge I took things for myself not thinking ‘bout the consequence I didn’t treat you right, caught you in a web of lies I didn’t listen to the warnings, I thought I knew best Was deaf as well as blind, wrapped up in my selfish pride I never thought about the effects of what I was doing I never considered anything other than myself Oh, what have I done? I can’t believe all the things I did No, no Chorus
14.
Verse 1 You don’t know your abilities Your touch ignites a fire within the heart of me Your smile disarms hostilities Your eyes can hypnotise and they’re controlling me Pre-Chorus 1 You can make a minute last for many hours You can lift me up to fly among the clouds ‘Cause you are stronger than you know You got power in your soul Chorus Oh, oh, you don’t know The things that you do to me inside my heart, my head You pull me in sideways, twist me, fold me inside out Oh, oh, you don’t know The power you got over me Somethin’ I just accept ‘Cause you fill the hole inside my soul, the perfect fit Verse 2 You got a super power in you When you’re mad you breathe out ice into the room When you’re sad I feel it too But you are strong enough to lift me when I’m blue Pre-Chorus 2 You can make me forget worries and regrets Seems like you decide if it’s sunny or it’s wet ‘Cause you are stronger than you know You got power in your soul Chorus Bridge You consume my thoughts with a telepathic super-force Never felt this before You can break down walls within my heart and open locked doors Outro You got, you got, you got a super power in you You got, you got, you got my heart

2018 04:29
Verse 1 Out there in your world years are rushing forward In here that isn’t true The days are blurred, can’t see around the corner Time doesn’t seem to move It feels to me like it’s still twenty-eighteen And someone stopped the film too soon Disaster movie playing out before me Frozen till they hit resume Chorus 1 Two-thousand-and-eighteen I’m stuck there and waiting For the film to start again The movie stopped playing in two-thousand-eighteen Don’t know how it ends Two-thousand-and-eighteen Verse 2 The movie paused just as the comet landed And split the world in two And now I’m waiting, wond’ring what the plan is How will I see it through? There ain’t a way to get the picture to play I still don’t know how it concludes I’m trapped in twenty-eighteen, I’m stranded Praying I can start anew Chorus 2 Two-thousand-and-eighteen I’m stuck there and waiting For the film to start again The movie stopped playing in two-thousand-eighteen Don’t know how it ends Two-thousand-and-eighteen I’m stuck there and waiting For the film to start again The picture is hazy, please somebody save me I’m still living way back there In two-thousand-eighteen Bridge As Einstein predicted Time is relative You gotta move to feel it With nowhere to visit There’s no perspective My inner clock’s stopped ticking (ticking, yeah) Chorus 2

about

CELL(R)'s album EVERY DAY was entirely recorded in the Central Prison of Leuven.

All songs on this album were written, sung and played by eight inmates: 1 songwriter/musician, 4 musicians, 2 guest musicians and 1 artist.
The female backing vocals were sung by a prison staff member who coordinated the project in prison and brought the organisations together to realise this amazing project.

They all have a link with music in their own way. They worked together within the complex conditions of the prison and went through a long and eventful process, but wonderfully managed to achieve a great result.

The recordings were done in the music cellar of the prison (where the name of the band refers to) by a volunteer who spend a lot of his time recording with the inmates in the basement but also hours of mixing and mastering.

If you buy the album, you get access to a lot of cool BONUSTRACKS: audio comments from the artists on their favourite songs, original artwork and a beautifully designed poster with the full lyrics!

All profits of this album goes to Moderator vzw, a Belgian organization that works inside and outside prison walls for victims and perpetrators and the restoration between them and the wider society.
This organization was unanimously chosen by the inmates themselves because the content of the songs is strongly linked to what Moderator does.
